There are medical and non-medical reasons a parent may want to have a child of a specific sex.
On the medical side, there are some sex-linked genetic diseases. For example, hemophilia and Duchenne muscular dystrophy almost always occur in boys.
If a family has a history of these diseases, they may wish to conceive a girl.
However, most people hoping specifically for a boy or girl want to do so for non-medical reasons.
The most common reason is family balancing.
This is when a family already has a child (or many children) of one sex, and hopes the next child will be of the opposite sex. Or, if a couple decides to have two children, and they already have a boy (or girl), they may be more determined that their second child be the other sex.
Research has found that in families with all boys, couples are more likely to increase their originally planned family size, in hopes that the next one will “finally” be a girl.
Family balancing is usually an immediate family consideration, but it can also be an extended family issue. For example, if a grandparent has only granddaughters, one of their children may hope to give the grandparent a grandson (or vice versa).
Other reasons a person may prefer to have either a boy or girl include:
Preferring to raise a child of a specific sex:
If a couple plans to have only one child, they may strongly prefer that child be a boy (or a girl). Or, a planned single mom, for example, may feel more comfortable raising a girl. A single male or gay male couple having a child with a surrogate may feel more comfortable raising a boy.
Cultural or religious reasons:
Some cultures and beliefs favor one sex over the other. (On the other hand, some religions forbid any form of preconception sex selection.)
Death of a child:
If a parent loses a child, they may hope to have another child of the same gender. Alternatively, they may want to have a child of the opposite sex, to try to avoid bad memories associated with their loss.
Is it the man or the woman who makes a boy or a girl?
The man has two testicles where sperm are made. These are not gender specific, e.g. one for girl sperm and the other for boy sperm! Although it takes a full three months (72 days) for a sperm to develop, men are making millions of sperm all the time. At this production rate, there are bound to be mistakes and a high percentage of the three to five hundred million sperm ejaculated are rejects.
Studies have shown that men who ejaculate between three and four times a week have healthy, motile sperm.
Your partner can improve his sperm count by:
- Wearing boxers – tight underpants keep the testicles close to the body where it’s hot.
- Sperm can overheat and die
- Not sitting for too long or cycling – again, sperm overheat
- Stop smoking (especially cannabis) and drinking alcohol
- Having regular sex.
When a couple plan to have a specific gender, their sex life depends on the woman’s ovulation – a few days in the middle of her cycle when her body is fertile – and which sperm (the X or the Y) reaches her egg first.
You will know when your body is fertile when:
- Your body temperature dips, then rises slightly above normal
- Your labia feels fuller
- You have a wet and slippery vaginal secretion
- High libido.
Healthy, motile sperm consist of a head, neck and tail. The head is covered with a little ‘helmet’ or acrosome to help the sperm burrow into the egg.
The neck has little ‘energy tanks’ that help the long tail to swish from side to side, pushing the sperm forward at the speed of 20cm per hour! Y sperm swim a bit faster because they’re lighter, but they’re not quite as resilient as the X sperm.
X sperm swim a bit slower, but they’re more cautious. When sperm are released in seminal fluid (about one teaspoonful) and deposited into the vagina, their survival depends on whether the woman’s body is fertile or not.
A basic common sense about the sex of the fetus is that our eggs provide an X chromosome while our partner’s sperm provide another X chromosome (baby girl) or a Y chromosome (baby boy).
It is in this common sense that we encourage the “right” sperm to integrate with the egg and improve the possibility of “selecting” the baby’s gender by changing the body pH and “making baby” body and time of both parents.
Remember, it is impossible to 100% “what to expect” without any other medical intervention. if you want to have a baby of a particular gender, then you may delay pregnancy.
HOW TO CONCEIVE A BABY BOY
Dr. Landrum B. Shettles, author of “How to Choose a Child’s Sex,” published in 1971, is a big fan of the field. Landrum’s theory suggests that Y sperm run faster than X sperm, but are more vulnerable; Y sperm are more likely to thrive in alkaline environments. We are using these attributes to increase the probability of having a boy.
Let the time of making love as close to ovulation time as possible. This gives Y-faster sperm the chance to “beat” X-sperm.
Abandon sex those days before ovulation . If you have sex before the ovulation, it is likely that X sperm that have lived longer will seize the first opportunity to combine with the egg. So, if you want to have a son, stop sex two days before ovulation.
Let your vaginal environment more alkaline (on the contrary, acidic environment is very bad for Y sperm). Plus orgasm! Lit candles, create a romantic … slowly, happy sexual experience is more helpful to conceive a boy.
A deeper entry allows the sperm to be closer to the egg, helping Y sperm, which was already swimmerly faster. The more in-depth sexual intercourse is posterior , that is, your partner enters your vagina from the back.
Prepare boxer style underwear for the other half. Maintaining the balls at a relatively low temperature may be beneficial to Y sperm. So if you want a boy, then men should avoid hot showers, saunas and spas during your intercourse
Dr. Landrum also advised men to drink a cup of espresso before having sex . At present, we do not know exactly what we intend to do in this way. But caffeine can help ejaculate, thus contributing to female pregnancy.
Eat ” pregnant boy” food . Salty and alkaline foods, along with the removal of dairy products, may help you conceive a boy. Such as ball lettuce, tomato, peach, pear, V8 vegetable juice (a US vegetable juice), pickled meat and chicken (but excluding fish), rice, apples, bananas, potatoes, cherries, zucchini and dried apricots And dates.

How TO CONCEIVE A BABY GIRL
Dr. Landrum’s theory also applies to mums who want to be abused . Give X-Sperm the best chance of making a girl need to combine it with the egg. X Sperms are slower to beat, but more robust; they prefer the acidic environment.
Two and a half to three days before the predicted ovulation . X sperm into the fallopian tubes slower than Y sperm, but they live longer. Having sex at this time before ovulation is the equivalent of eliminating Y sperm and getting X sperm ready for the egg.
Stop sex two days before ovulation until the end of ovulation.
Access to the lighter (especially when ejaculation) will help pregnant girls, preacher-type position (that is, men in the position, then do not know, it is recommended Baidu) is the best. The vaginal opening in an acidic environment will eliminate many Y sperm, giving X sperm a greater advantage.
Landrum suggested that women try to avoid orgasm when trying to conceive a girl . Because the climax tends to make the vagina alkaline, this puts Y sperm in a more favorable position. At the same time, accompanied by orgasm, vaginal contraction is conducive to sperm mobility , which is also conducive to Y sperm.
Finally, give the recipe for the dad and mom who wants the girl . High-calcium high-magnesium, low-potassium low-salt diet helps pregnant girls. Such foods are: milk, yogurt, rice, low-salt meat, nuts without salt, citrus fruits (except pineapples) and fresh berries.

OTHE MEDICAL METHODS TO DETERMINE YOUR BABY GENDER
Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis
PGD Giving a rundown of sex selection techniques, he described Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis, PGD, as the best scientific method at present for selecting the gender of a child.
“The best available is PGD. It is almost 100 per cent certain of selecting the desired sex. In PGD the woman first goes through a process of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) where her ovaries are stimulated using medications to produce eggs, the eggs are retrieved from her body using a special technique, they are fertilized using her partner’s sperms and the resulting embryos are biopsied (a small cell is removed from each) and analysed to determine the gender of the particular embryo.
The embryos of the desired sex are then transferred into the woman’s womb with the hope they will attach to the uterine lining and grow into a viable pregnancy.
Sperm Sorting/Microsort
Sperm Sorting/Microsort that involves the sperms being sorted using fluorescent technology into Y chromosome for the boy carrying sperms and X chromosome (girl) carrying sperms. The technology is based on the fact that the X chromosome is substantially larger than the Y chromosome.
The process uses a fluorescent DNA stain that attaches to the DNA of each sperm and a sorter to identify and separate the sperms.
“That of a girl is 82 per cent. Not all couples are suitable for Microsort. The sperm count of the male partner must be within normal limits (at least 20 million sperms per ml with 50 per cent motility).
Sperm samples are collected over a period and banked until a total of about 200 million sperms are collected. They are frozen and sent for sorting.
“The sorted samples are sent back usually within three to four weeks and depending on the desired gender, the appropriate sperm is used to inseminate the woman or to fertilise her egg during processes of assisted reproduction. For the chances for a boy is 73 – 81 per cent while that of a girl is 88-92 per cent.
